I was going to be a teacher...

Good afternoon,

Over many years people have shared with me that they had once thought about teaching as a career.  For some reason or another they decided to follow a different career path, but teaching had continued to be a thought in their mind.  Unfortunately, now they just were not able to go back to get the teaching degree they once considered.  Maybe you have once had that thought.  If you did, I have an opportunity for you to consider!

The State of Iowa created a pathway to the classroom in the form of a substitute authorization.  This license will provide you the opportunity follow the path you once had pondered and will allow you to share your passion for learning with our students.  Please review the following information and contact us as we would enjoy talking to you about how we can help.

So, how can you become a Substitute Teacher for AHSTW?

The following information shares the requirements needed to qualify for licensure through the Iowa Board of Education Examiners.

Requirements:
·      Bachelor’s degree or higher
·      Completion of an Approved Substitute Authorization Course

Length of Certificate:
·      5 years

What can I do with my authorization?
·      Substitute for a contracted teacher out on leave in any subject area in grades PK-12.
·      Substitute up to 10 days per month and is limited to 5 days in a row in the same assignment.
Renewals:
·      2 renewal credits
·      Completion of Mandatory Reporting training

Please contact Mrs. Kock, Mrs. Rold, Mr. Embrock or me with any interest.  We would enjoy talking with you about it!
